“What man among you if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it...I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent.” Luke 15:4-7

Life’s journey is unique for each of us, filled with challenges, joys, sorrows, failings and beginning anew. If you have been away - for whatever reason - know that our God is a merciful God and welcomes you as you are. We are not good because we go to church – we are good because God loves us and forgives us. Please do not allow any individual or structure in the Church come between you and the God who loves you and calls you to share in the fullness of his mercy and love.

If you have a desire to return to the practice of your Catholic faith and the sacraments-we are here to help you. Nothing is impossible for God and no situation, no matter how complex, is too difficult. No matter how long you have been away or where you are in your relationship with God we invite you to Come Home  Click Here or contact the parish office at  785-738-2851  or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. We warmly welcome all who are interested and seeking to join the Catholic Church or wanting to learn more about the Catholic faith.

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) is the process through which men, women and children are initiated into the Catholic Church. Through a gradual, complete and comprehensive training in the Christian way of life, you will come to know Jesus Christ through the Catholic Christian community learning to live as Jesus’ disciples. As you explore our Christian, Catholic faith, the process will assist in your discernment and stages of conversion, which lead to sacramental initiation. It is a spiritual formation process culminating with entry into the Catholic Church with the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism (if not previously baptized in a Christian denomination), Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

About Us

“In 2019, we felt God gently calling our family to leave behind everything familiar in upstate New York and begin again in the small town of Beloit. It wasn’t a decision rooted in convenience or certainty, but in trust. We were drawn to the simplicity of small-town life and the beauty of a close-knit parish community, something that felt slower, deeper, and more intentional. At the time, we couldn’t have known how significant that move would become.

Just months later, the world shifted in ways no one could have predicted. Yet in the midst of uncertainty, we found ourselves exactly where we needed to be. What once felt like a step into the unknown revealed itself as God’s quiet provision. In a season when many felt isolated, we experienced connection. In a time marked by fear, we found peace in community.

Over the years, our life here has grown in ways we never anticipated. Not only has our immediate family expanded, but we’ve also been blessed to have extended family join us in Beloit. What began as a leap of faith has become a shared journey, one rooted in togetherness, support, and a deep sense of belonging.

At the heart of it all has been St. John’s. It is here that the values we hold most dear…faith and family, have been nurtured and strengthened. Our parish is more than a place we attend; it is a community that walks alongside us, encourages us, and helps us live out our faith in a tangible way.

In a world that often feels fast-paced and disconnected, we are grateful to have found something steady and real. This life, this community, this season…it is a gift. And we don’t take it for granted..”

“My love for St. John’s parish is generational. I feel so honored that myself, my husband, and my children have received Sacraments in the same church and parish that their great grandparents did so many years ago.”

Lifelong St. John’s Parishioner

“My great grandfather came to Beloit from Germany and helped quarry rock to build the existing church. My grandparents, parents and now our family have celebrated so many sacraments in our beautiful church. My Dad was a member of the first St. John’s high school football team and there has been a steady stream of Stovers/Dubberts wearing Blujay uniforms in multiple sports since then. St. John’s parish and school hold such a special place in my heart and that of my family’s, and we look forward to the day when our future grandchildren can continue the tradition.”
