Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children.  They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and service are the rule.” (CCC 2223) The role of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is to support the role of parents as the “first and foremost educators of their children.”  (FC, 36.)

Being a parent in the modern world can oftentimes be a rather daunting task, as a parent must deal with the challenges of everchanging technology, moral issues, and religious questions from children that many parents are not fully prepared to answer.  Through weekly sessions the children of St. John’s meet to learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  The children not only learn the content of their faith (the Creed), but also the reasons why we do all of the many things that we do in the Catholic faith, and how those things form our relationship with Jesus.  Through monthly celebrations of the sacrifice of the Mass the students, along with their families, learn about the Eucharistic Feast and why this celebration is so essential to Catholics.  Here at St. John the Baptist we don’t want to simply teach religion in the classroom, but we want to share the beauty of the truths of the Catholic faith in order to shape and mold our students with the tools of faith needed to be a light in the modern world.
