Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) recently underwent a name change to better reflect the original Latin name and to emphasize the ongoing conversion and development of candidates and catechumens in the faith formation process. OCIA is the process for welcoming new members into the Catholic Church.

OCIA Team Members assist in various aspects of the process including catechesis, giving personal testimony of their experience joining the Catholic Church, providing snacks and drinks, and providing spiritual support for the catechumens leading up to the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter.

OCIA Sponsors serve as a personal connection between the catechumen/candidate and the parish community by praying for and encouraging them, answering questions, introducing them to other members of the parish, and accompanying them throughout their journey into the Catholic Church.
